Welcome to Swissy’s World
Swissy grew up in a household that welcomed a diverse set of musical tastes, allowing her to appreciate different sounds and genres of music, from 60s rock to R&B to Dance and Theatre. Without any formal training, she began playing piano at age 9 and guitar at age 15. She started writing songs in 2003 and draws inspiration from personal life experiences and heart-felt emotions – love, happiness, fear, failure, and hope. Swissy’s original material and vocal style have been likened to those of The Sundays and The Cardigans. Her angelic voice combined with an innate musical talent for composing original melodies, Beatlesque harmonies and lyrics that take you to another tangent, makes her unique. The Philippine-born Swissy, who grew up in Australia, has performed at several prestigious events and venues around her adopted country, including the 2002 Darebin Music Festival, The National Theatre and Chapel Off Chapel. Her live performance at Rumours Bar & Cafe was even on Australian TV.
Here and now
Her exploits in the independent music scene have made her quite the sensation in the region. She recently won the Best Artist Award from the independent music website junkonline.net and is nominated for Best Pop Act at the AVIMA 2009, both of which are regional award giving bodies. Her album is also now available in Japan.
What's next for Swissy?
With the release of her 1st full-length album “She Smiles” in June 2008, Swissy is well on her way to reaching her ultimate goal of being able to write and perform her music full-time and share it with the rest of the world. With the music video for the second single, “Your Life’s In Rewind”, currently under production, she’s ready to go full swing. In the meantime, Swissy has been sharing her music by doing live gigs in Metro Manila’s more popular live music venues. A provincial tour with several independent music acts is also under works.
